The Atlanta Hawks announced today that power forward Mike Scott will miss up to four more weeks nursing his injured left knee.

Mike Scott has yet to make is 2016-17 season debut and according to the team, he’ll have to wait at least four more weeks to do so. Scott will “undergo a series of surgical procedures for his left knee soreness.”

The team hasn’t showed it thus far, but Scott’s versatility off the bench  creates a much bigger challenge for the opposition. Luckily, Mike Muscala has looked impressive in the first two games that Scott has missed, averaging 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in his 23.5 minutes per game.

In the two games so far, the Hawks have fed off big performances by Tim Hardaway Jr. and Thabo Sefolosha. Ideally, those two sustain that level of play, but the safer bet would be for Scott to come back and add yet another scoring threat in that lineup.

The good news of all this is that Scott doesn’t need surgery. A mix of specific rehabilitation and rest will hopefully do the trick to get him back on the floor as soon as possible.
