Don’t count out the Los Angeles Clippers; according to Paul Pierce, the Clips are one of the NBA’s Super Teams, too

The Golden State Warriors. The New York Knicks. The Los Angeles Clippers.

No, that’s not a list of the most annoying fans in the NBA. Though, the first two could very well qualify.

Instead, that’s a list of the NBA’s Super Teams. At least in the words of the teams themselves. The Warriors, of course. Who wouldn’t categorize that team as a Super Team? Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green – yes, Super Team.

The New York Knicks, uhm…no. That’s just something dumb that Derrick Rose said ahead of Training Camp. We can cross them out.

But, don’t get me wrong, we can still use this joke for the remainder of the season.

Now, to the Los Angeles Clippers. They were a late addition to this list because Paul Pierce, of all people, informed the public during media day that the Clippers, indeed, were a Super Team, too.

“To me, I think we have a super team here,” Pierce stated at Clippers media day on Monday. “You look at Chris Paul who’s been first-team all-NBA … Blake Griffin first-team … DeAndre Jordan currently first-team All-NBA.

“I mean how many teams can currently say that? You have the best three-point shooter in the NBA (J.J. Redick). You have the Sixth Man of the Year (Jamal Crawford). I mean why is this not a super team? What defines super team? When you look at those stats and you hear when I’m saying, this could very well easily be what’s considered a super team.”

To be honest, I’m not even sure that he’s wrong. They have one of the best point guards in the NBA in Chris Paul, perhaps a top 5 shooting guard (in today’s NBA game) in J.J. Redick and one of the NBA’s best big men tandem in Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

    Yea, that’s not bad.

Are the on the level of the Golden State Warriors? Absolutely not. It’s impossible to be on that same level. But the Warriors are a generational team. That is probably not happening again.

In essence, I suppose the Clippers ARE a Super Team. They’re just not on the same level of the Dubs. And that’s Ok.

However, you’d think a Super Team would be able to get out of the second round of the playoffs, which the Los Angeles Clippers have failed to do in each of the last three seasons.
