Lightning strikes Thunder twice — Westbrook breaks bone in hand

Published Oct. 31, 2014 2:16 a.m. ET

Are the Oklahoma City Thunder in for a long season? A very long season?

Already without injured Kevin Durant, the Thunder lost Russell Westbrook to a hand injury in the second quarter of Thursday night's 93-90 loss to the Clippers. And after the game, head coach Scott Brooks delivered the devastating news:

While Westbrook was not made available to reporters after the game, he was seen outside the Thunder locker room with his hand and lower arm heavily bandaged.

Westbrook appeared to hurt his hand while going for a rebound in a crowd, then appeared to have a verbal exchange with a fan while exiting through the tunnel.

He finished with two points and four assists in eight minutes.

Durant, the reigning NBA MVP, has a broken bone in his foot and is expected to miss well over a month.
