Light your money on fire before you bet against Steph Curry for MVP

Steph Curry is the NBA's leading scorer, reigning MVP and very best player. His 53-5 Golden State Warriors crush their opponents by a whopping 20.4 points per 100 possessions when he's on the court, and are outscored by 4.9 points per 100 possessions when he sits.

Few players in NBA history have ever sat at the center of the basketball universe quite like Curry is right now, and it's all but a foregone conclusion that he's going to win his second-straight MVP this season.

He defines value, and Las Vegas agrees:

This smells like guaranteed money but is more likely a clear stay-away. Curry's odds are so low that it's hardly worth the investment, but putting money on literally any other player (who has just about no chance to actually win the MVP) isn't particularly smart either.

With 24 games left in Golden State's season -- and the team on a nuclear pace to eviscerate a record Michael freaking Jordan helped mark -- even if Curry went down with a serious injury he'd still be in line to win the trophy.

He's been that dominant this year, that soul-stirringly excellent. Everything he's doing is unprecedented, from making over five threes each game to his ludicrous 32.8 PER (which is the best in NBA history), Curry's brilliance is undeniable.

He's a lock to win his second MVP in a row, just maybe don't bet too much money either way.
