LeBron sent Nike care package to Spelling Bee Co-Champ

As if being the Spelling Bee co-champion wasn’t enough for Gokul Venkatachalam, the young boy has also received a special care package from Cavaliers forward LeBron James as well. Sporting a James jersey under his shirt during the National Spelling Bee, which was aired on ESPN, got the whole country talking, not because of how good of a speller he was, but the fact that he was wearing his favorite player’s jersey as well.
Following the spelling bee, Venkatachalam mentioned that he was looking for a sneaker endorsement deal. Well, he got his wish, kind of.
According to Brendan Dunne of Sole Collector, Venkatachalam received two boxes of footwear from James’ camp: One was from the LeBron James Family Foundation — a pair of Nike LeBron 11 Elite player exclusives — with the second coming from the Cavaliers, who gave him a pair of the LeBron 12 “All Star”. The Cavs’ gift came with something special, however: An autograph from James that said, “Congrats on being spelling ‘B’ champ.” Along with the two pairs of shoes, the care package also had Cavs gear, Beats headphones, and other cool goodies for the 14-year old.
Sharing a National Spelling Bee championship has to be cool for Venkatachalam, but receiving a care package from his favorite player and the best basketballer in the world might even mean more to him.
The fact that James took time out of his NBA Finals preparation for a kind gesture like this one is one of the many reasons why Cleveland fans love James so much.
