Lakers reach deal to land Jose Calderon as Bulls make room for Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade's move from Miami to Chicago not only benefited the Bulls, but also the Cavs and the Lakers.
To make room for Wade, the Bulls reached a deal to send point guard Jose Calderon to LA and forward Mike Dunleavy to Cleveland. Los Angeles will give up the rights to a player not currently in the NBA for Calderon.
Calderon never even unpacked his bags in Chicago. The 34-year-old Spaniard was part of last month's deal that sent Derrick Rose to the Knicks.
Calderon spent the past two seasons in New York. He averaged a career-low 7.6 points and 4.2 rebounds last season, well below his career averages of 9.9 and 6.5, but still shot 45.9 percent from the field, 41.4 percent on 3s and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line.
He should be a solid backup to point guard D'Angelo Russell and another veteran presence around the young Lakers, who are rebuilding after the worst season in franchise history (17-65).
Los Angeles also has added veterans Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov on hefty free-agent contracts while agreeing to new contracts for restricted free agents Jordan Clarkson and Tarik Black. Calderon will make $7.7 million next season in the final year of his contract.
