The latest Lakers news takes a look at the impression left by Thomas Robinson.

As the new wave of Lakers starts to take shape, one of the players making a good impression is Thomas Robinson.

Robinson, a top-five pick drafted in 2012 by Sacramento, found his way to Los Angeles in the off-season.

According to a report from Mark Medina in the OC Register, Robinson’s impression has to do with more than just an opportunity to prove himself.

Per the report:

“He never takes plays off,” Lakers coach Luke Walton said. “He’s a great guy. You want him around. He’s a monster on the offensive glass and has a great attitude with everything we’ve done.”

This is not the first case of the younger players meshing well with Luke Walton, as D’Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson have also spoken highly of their new coach.

Robinson has bounced around the league since draft night, playing for the Kings, Rockets, Trail Blazers, 76ers, and the Nets before finding the Lakers.

Only being given 30 minutes of playing time, Robinson hasn’t been quiet. Knowing that he has to do enough to convince the team he’s worthy of making the final cut, he’s contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds.

As Medina notes in his report, Los Angeles has two more cuts to be determined.

Additionally, veteran Metta World Peace and newcomer Yi Jianlian are fighting for a roster spot.

Realistically, Robinson could prove to be a deadly force behind Julius Randle.

Making these cuts can’t be easy for Walton to make, but they have to be done. If Robinson does end up on the final roster, we can expect plenty from him this season.

Finally, mixing Robinson in with the youth that the Lakers have at their disposal is huge.

It’ll help Luke Walton big time.
