Knick News: Knicks Waive Chasson Randle

The New York Knicks waived Chasson Randle, as well as Lou Amundson, Damien Inglis, J.P. Tokoto, and Cleanthony Early. The roster now stands at 15.
The New York Knicks waived Chasson Randle, Lou Amundson, JP Tokoto, and Cleanthony Early to bring the roster total to the maximum of 15. This is a huge surprise, as Knicks fans believed Chasson Randle was going to make the 15-man roster.
The reason why Randle didn’t make the team is unknown, as his injury was apparently not going to play a factor as to whether or not he will make the team.
If the Knicks want to bring Randle back, he can return to the team by playing for the Westchester Knicks after he recovers from his left orbital fracture.
This move means that Ron Baker, Maurice Ndour, Kyle O’Quinn, and Marshall Plumlee have all made the team. All four of these players were unsure if they were going to make the team prior to Friday’s move.
Early and Amundson had fallen out of the rotation over the past few seasons with the team. Early was the Knicks’ 2015 first-round draft pick and Amundson arrived via the J.R Smith trade.
What’s surprising is that the Knicks didn’t cut one of their backup big men. Because of this, the race between Willy Hernangomez, Plumlee, and O’Quinn for the backup center position is still up in the air.
All three of these big men proved their worth during the preseason in their own different ways.
Ron Baker looks to compete with Sasha Vujacic as the team’s third string point guard while competing with Justin Holiday for the backup shooting guard position. His ability to shoot the 3-ball efficiently and his versatility on both ends of the floor is what makes him a valuable player to the team.
The Knicks gave the undrafted combo guard a chance and he was able to make the most of it. He performed exceptionally well during the Summer League and played well during the preseason.
Randle showed flashes of potential that’s beneficial to many teams.
Many Knicks fans hope to see Randle suit up and play for the Knicks in the near future.
