Karl-Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell sign deals with Nike

The biggest news of the day in terms of NBA athletes and sneakers came when adidas reportedly offered James Harden a deal worth $200 million to leave Nike in favor of joining the brand of three stripes.
While it remains to be seen whether or not Nike will match that high-priced offer in order to retain Harden as an endorser, the biggest name in basketball shoes scored a victory on Monday nonetheless.
Nike inked the top two picks in the draft to deals, according to an official announcement on the company's website.
Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell won't be given signature lines, at least not initially. Those are saved for players who are transcendent, as only Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are active signature athletes with Nike at the moment.
But both Towns and Russell will begin their careers as being extremely high-profile NBA players, and they'll now be doing so with the Nike swoosh firmly attached.
