K.J. McDaniels signs three-year, $10 million deal with Rockets

K.J. McDaniels was a fireball in the early months of his rookie season, routinely making highlight reel plays for the Philadelphia 76ers.

But he rarely got off the bench after getting traded to the Houston Rockets, a deep team that couldn't afford to insert a rookie into their rotation. But that doesn't mean GM Daryl Morey isn't interested in seeing what McDaniels has to offer over the next few seasons.

This is incredible market value for Houston. McDaniels isn't a great outside shooter, but he's athletic and can defend multiple positions.

A jumper can always be improved, and the Rockets were right to keep their mid-level exception for the 22-year-old McDaniels instead of giving it to Josh Smith.
