Joel Embiid's agent: 'We expect him to play' in summer league
The rumors have swirled, but now we have confirmation that it's official: Joel Embiid is going to play basketball with other basketball players on an actual basketball court.
Embiid's agent, Arn Tellem, confirmed the 76ers rookie center, who set out the entire 2014-15 season injured, will participate in summer league this July.
"The good news is [Embiid] is back playing basketball now," Tellem said during a taped segment for CSN's Breakfast on Broad morning show. "This is now coming from the Sixers that he has made great progress. We expect him to play this summer. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Joel will be a terrific player, sort of the anchor of this franchise going forward. All signs are pointing in a good direction, and that is most encouraging."
Embiid was the third overall selection in the 2014 NBA draft and is considered by many as the best talent of his class. He dominated as a freshman at Kansas, especially in the second half of the season. Now, we can start the countdown to seeing him perform against the pros.
