Joe Johnson on free agency: 'Winning is going to be important to me...I've made enough money'

Joe Johnson has made a lot of money. Like, so much money. Like, unbelievable amounts of money. Like, enough that when people mention Joe Johnson's name, their first thought is usually something along the lines of, "Yeah, that guy makes so much money."

So, because of all of that, guess what the Nets wing isn't going to be prioritizing when he hits the free-agency market in the summer of 2016...I'll give you a hint: It's green, has faced on it and William Jennings Bryan has a real problem that it's not backed by gold.

Here's what Johnson told Andy Vasquez of the Bergen Record:

Johnson's numbers are way down this year, but he's played better of late. Still, he's shooting just 35 percent from the field and 27 percent from three, averaging 11.3 points per game during Brooklyn's first 17 contests. He remains the team's best playmaker and isn't in danger of falling out of the lineup or rotation. If he finds a place next year where he's featured a little less and is willing to take a small deal to go there, he can certainly help a contender win.

This is also a good piece of information to note for this year. Considering he's in the final year of his deal right now, Johnson is a potential buyout candidate later in the season, especially if the Nets find that he's getting in the way of the team giving playing time to some of its younger players. Of course, this becomes more plausible if Brooklyn can guarantee itself no playoff spot come February-ish.

“Winning. Winning is going to be important to me,” Johnson told The Record when asked about his impending free agency. “I’ve made enough money, man, throughout my career. So, yeah, winning will definitely be top priority for me.”
