Favors out for Jazz, Thornton yet to join Nets

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Jazz starting center Derrick Favors is inactive for Utah's game against Brooklyn and newly acquired Marcus Thornton has yet to join the Nets.
Favors has been bothered by a sprained right hip since he was hurt against Detroit on Jan. 17. He originally sat out just one game, but he has aggravated the injury twice and Wednesday's game will mark the fifth contest he missed due to the injury.
Favors, who averages 12.9 points and a team-leading 9.0 rebounds, hoped to heal over the All-Star break. Enes Kanter will start in his place. The Jazz are 1-21 when the big man from Turkey starts.
The Nets acquired guard Marcus Thornton from the Sacramento Kings for Jason Terry and Reggie Evans on Wednesday, but Thornton hadn't yet joined the team at game time.
