Comparing DeMar DeRozan's December scoring to top talent in the East

Published Dec. 30, 2015 5:10 p.m. ET

During fourteen games in December, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan has become one of the most dominant scorers.

In fact, this month DeRozan leads the entire conference in scoring -- except for Cleveland's LeBron James. In December, DeRozan averages 24.4 points per game, while James averages 25.7 points per game. James, however, shows a smaller sample size with just 12 games played. Meanwhile, DeRozan has outscored other top talent in the conference.

Washington's John Wall (22.8 points per game), New York's Carmelo Anthony (21.7 PPG) as well as Detroit's Reggie Jackson and Chicago's Jimmy Butler (both with 21.4) are all near the top of the conference in scoring.

Also ranked in the top ten this month is DeRozan's teammate, Kyle Lowry. In December, Lowry averages 21.2 points per game.
