Chris Bosh on Miami Heat not clearing him: 'There's 29 other teams'

Chris Bosh doesn’t seem ready to call it quits.

Chris Bosh took a moment to thank the Miami Heat fans, and also dropped the latest episode of his documentary series for Uninterrupted chronicling his recovery from blood clots that sidelined him for the latter part of the last two seasons. Even though Bosh’s Heat career is over after the latest failed physical, it doesn’t seem he’s ready to hang it up.

“That does not mean my NBA career is over. There’s 29 other teams,” Bosh said. “One team does not make up the opinion of everything.”

Bosh had said he felt dismissed by the Heat doctors, and sought opinions of other medical professionals. Eventually, he tried to push the Heat on a treatment of taking blood thinners that would be out of his system by game time. The Heat, reportedly, started to come around to the idea before failing his physical.

Pat Riley on media day said that the team won’t be pursuing Bosh’s return, and that his career with the team is over.

Bosh, it seems, will continue to seek other opinions. The Heat could waive him and apply for a CBA rule that would take Bosh’s cap off the books. If that happens, Bosh can still seek employment by another team.

If he were to return, prove doctors wrong and play in 25 games, Bosh’s contract would go back onto Miami’s cap–regardless of the team he plays for.

That would require passing a physical and being cleared to play by another team. It’s unclear if another organization would be willing to take on that risk for a 32-year-old forward who has missed 59 games in the last two seasons.
