While a lot went wrong for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2014-15 campaign, the Lakers were particularly unlucky in the player health department. First-round draft pick Julius Randle breaking his leg in the first game of the season was an indication of what was to come for the Lakers.

This offseason, though, things could be looking up for the Lakers. With a projected Top-5 draft pick on the way, plenty of cap space, the return of Randle and Kobe Bryant, it seems like the Lakers can only improve from the worst regular season record in franchise history.

Randle in particular will be a big part of what's to come in the future, and it's clear the franchise has high hopes for the type of player he can be. Here's what Lakers head coach Byron Scott said during an interview with TWC SportsNet, as transcribed by Russell Valenzuela at Lakers Nation:

"He’s going to be a big part of the future with this team because I think the guy is multi-talented," Scott said. "He’s got facets of his game that you can’t teach a 6’9″, 250-pound power forward. He brings the ball up the court, a lot like Blake Griffin. He really can handle the ball, can really pass it. One thing he’s continually working on right now is that 15-17-foot jumper. If he’s knocking that down on a consistent basis, he can almost be unguardable."
