Chicago guard Derrick Rose will miss his third straight game because of lower back spasms when the Bulls host the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.
Coach Tom Thibodeau said Rose's condition is improving but ''still not where we want it to be.'' He said the point guard will sit out against the Kings and the Bulls will ''be patient and see how it goes'' with the NBA's reigning MVP.
Rose did not participate in Tuesday morning's shootaround. A specialist confirmed Monday that Rose suffered no major structural damage, but he remains day to day.
Rose is averaging 22.0 points and 7.8 assists, but this will be the eighth game this season that he has missed because of problems with his back and left big toe.
