Brooklyn Nets: Jeremy Lin, Brook Lopez Crack CBS's Top 100

Yesterday, CBS released its rankings of the top 100 NBA players. Two Brooklyn Nets players made the cut: Jeremy Lin and Brook Lopez.
CBS’s Top 100 NBA players were highlighted by a top five of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, and James Harden (No. 1 to 5, in that order). Still, two Brooklyn Nets players, Jeremy Lin and Brook Lopez, managed to earn spots on the list.
More from Nothin' But Nets
Another publication, Sports Illustrated, released its Top 100 last month. Lopez made the cut, while Lin did not. However, SI had mainly positive things to say about Lin, and praised him for his impressive year as a sixth man with the Charlotte Hornets.
CBS took a different approach, mentioning that Lin is returning to the city where he first emerged as “Linsanity.” Moreover, Lin will finally get the chance to be a team’s full-time point guard for a full season. The publication put Lin down as No. 87.
Back in NYC, Lin is going to have all the touches and minutes he can handle for the first time since Linsanity. His shot looked improved in the preseason, but it would really help if Brooklyn had better pick-and-roll partners and shooters surrounding him.
As for Lopez, CBS was more critical of him, despite him finishing at No. 63 on its list. The 7-footer has been mentioned in trade rumors countless times, and it’s often a debate between Nets fans whether he should be traded. Lopez, as an old-school post-up center, has been struggling to fit into the Nets’ new offense. However, he is still one of Brooklyn’s best players, and the Nets will need him to show up once the season kicks off tomorrow.
Toiling away in Brooklyn, Lopez has become a forgotten player among the general public. Too many people don’t know just how solid a center he is and the Nets will need everything he’s got. Lopez is one of the few go-to scorers in Brooklyn.
Lopez and Lin will be sharing the spotlight in Brooklyn, and it’ll be exciting to see the Brook-Lin pick-and-roll in action beginning tomorrow.
