Al Jefferson: It's 'mind-boggling' Jeremy Lamb comes off the bench

The Charlotte Hornets obviously believe in Jeremy Lamb. They signed him to a three-year contract extension before this week's deadline passed. A humongous vote of confidence for a talented youngster who's yet to have a real opportunity to shine.
Will Lamb make the Hornets look like geniuses? Their best player, Al Jefferson, knows how good Lamb can be, and doesn't understand why he hasn't been a productive NBA player. Here's what he told the Charlotte Observer:
Lamb is off to a hot start, averaging 13.3 points on 58.6 percent shooting in three games. He's not starting, but that could change if P.J. Hairston continues to struggle.
When veteran Charlotte Hornets center Al Jefferson looks at Jeremy Lamb, he shakes his head in wonder. “I can’t believe this guy has been sitting on the bench for three years,” Jefferson said. “It’s just mind-boggling to me.” Lamb played his first three NBA seasons in Oklahoma City, where the shooting guard hardly ever started and averaged a modest 7.0 points per game on teams that featured Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
