Watch Hanley Ramirez hug a Red Sox fan after making a great catch


Remember when there were questions about Hanley Ramirez’s defense at first base? Well, the shortstop turned third baseman, turned left fielder, turned first baseman has done just fine in his first season at first – as he proved again Friday.
Ramirez chased this tricky popup all the way into right field before making an over-the-shoulder catch for the final out of the seventh inning. And as his momentum carried him toward the seats, Ramirez got a hug from an appreciative fan.
For a guy who finished September with a .313/.383/.646 slash line, 10 homers and 26 RBI, Ramirez couldn’t resist flashing a little leather. Ramirez’s great catch might have squashed a big inning for the Blue Jays and it paved the way for a Red Sox rally in the bottom of the inning – with David Ortiz providing the game-winning shot:
