Twins' Cuddyer hit on left wrist by pitch

Published Aug. 24, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Minnesota Twins right fielder Michael Cuddyer left Wednesday night's game against Baltimore because of a left wrist injury.

In the bottom of the first inning, Cuddyer was hit on the wrist by a pitch from Baltimore's Jeremy Guthrie. He was replaced by Rene Tosoni.

X-rays were negative and further tests are expected Thursday.

Cuddyer, who leads the Twins with 18 home runs and 61 RBIs, rolled on the ground, wincing in pain before being tended to by a trainer and manager Ron Gardenhire.

The team's lone All-Star, Cuddyer is also its most versatile player, having played right field, first base and second base this season.
