The Orioles made franchise history with this wacky walk-off win

Teams find all different ways to win over the course of a 162-game season, and on Wednesday night, the Baltimore Orioles made franchise history with a wacky walk-off win.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning, Toronto Blue Jays catcher Josh Thole mishandled a pitch. Baltimore's Caleb Joseph darted home on the passed ball to lift the Orioles to the 4-3 win.
The play marked the first time in franchise history in which the Orioles won on a walk-off passed ball. It's not the type of victory the average baseball fan is used to seeing, either. According to STATS, there have only been 19 wins on walk-off passed balls since the stat was first measured in 1974.
Oddly enough, the Orioles were involved in the two most recent passed ball walk-off wins. In 2014, the Orioles were on the losing end of a walk-off passed ball when they lost to the Tampa Bay Rays, 3-2, due to the error.
Wednesday night marked Toronto's second loss on a walk-off passed ball. The Blue Jays last suffered that type of defeat in 1991 in a 5-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers.
