Left-hander Eric Stults and right-hander Tim Stauffer agreed to one-year deals with the San Diego Padres in the hours before Monday night's deadline for teams to tender contracts to unsigned players.

Stults gets a raise from $507,600 to $2.75 million and Stauffer from $1 million to $1.6 million.

Stults, 34 next week, was 11-13 with a 3.93 ERA this year in a career-high 33 starts. The 31-year-old Stauffer was limited to one appearance in 2012, lasting five innings at Washington on May 14, and had surgery that Aug. 31 to repair tendon damage in his right elbow. He was 3-1 with a 3.75 ERA this year in 43 relief appearances.
