What do Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias, Royals catcher Salvador Perez and umpire D.J. Reyburn have in common? Yes, they all got hit by the same Danny Duffy "magic bullet" pitch.
It happened during Sunday's Royals-Tigers game and escaped my eye but fortunately not Reddit user The Don Giggity, who posted this GIF showing the sequence:
Iglesias' arm took the brunt of the 93-mile-per-hour fastball's force, then Perez's uncovered shoulder and then Reyburn's mask absorbed what remained.
It's a pretty unusual play. Duffy should only have to apologize once, I think.
