Rockies prospect Jon Gray turns in another quality start

Published Jun. 17, 2015 4:41 p.m. ET

Rockies top prospect and 2013 third overall draft pick Jon Gray turned in his sixth straight quality start on Tuesday for Triple-A Albuquerque. Gray struck out eight in six innings while allowing two earned runs. His performance once again solidified his case for being called up, according to Rockies blog Purple Row.

His latest start coincided with a bad outing for Chris Rusin who gave up seven earned runs in four innings against the Astros -- his second consecutive bad start. Gray has an ERA of 2.72 in nine starts since May 1.
