Rockies' Arenado turns two potential runs into two outs

The Rockies did not play on Sunday, otherwise Nolan Arenado would have probably made a jaw-dropping defensive play. The Rox did play on Friday, however, and the Gold Glove third baseman turned a remarkable double play. After backhanding a hard grounder along the third base line that probably would have scored two, Arenado turned two by stepping on the bag at third and firing over to first.

Afterward, the defensive wizard had this to say about the play, according to MLB.com:

"It had a little more spin," Arenado said. "That's what made me dive, because right when [McGehee] first hit it, I thought I could just field it and go to the bag. He hasn't been running great; I know his foot's been messed up. I knew I had a chance to throw him out at first and luckily enough, I made a good throw.”
