Reports: Rockies in talks to acquire Mark Reynolds
The Colorado Rockies are apparently nearing a deal to add some pop to their bench.
Multiple media reports indicate that the Rockies are close to signing free-agent corner infielder Mark Reynolds, who last played with the St. Louis Cardinals.
However, the reports, which emerged late Wednesday, conflict as to whether the deal is imminent or not.

The 32-year-old Reynolds, who played in the NL West as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2007-10, has played with five different teams in the past four years. His best season came in 2009 with the D-backs, in which he hit 44 home runs with 102 RBI and held a .260/.349/.543 split.
While the Rockies have everyday options in place at first and third base in Ben Paulsen and Nolan Arenado, respectively, Reynolds could add some power to the team's bench.
In addition to being heralded for his power, Reynolds is known for his infamous strikeout totals, and has struck out 1,519 times in 4,178 major-league at-bats (959 hits, 550 walks), which marks a 36.4-percent strikeout rate.
