Report: Tigers have inquired about Rockies closer John Axford

Rockies closer John Axford is garnering plenty of attention as the trade deadline nears, and now yet another team reportedly has their eyes on him
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Detroit Tigers are amongst the teams that have inquired about Axford.
#Tigers among teams that have inquired on #Rockies reliever John Axford. (Of course, Tigers no longer certain to be deadline buyers.)

In 29 appearances, the 32-year-old reliever has recorded 16 of 17 save opportunities and holds a 2.36 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings.
Despite their interest in Axford, Morosi notes that the Tigers, who are 10 ½ games back in the AL Central with a 45-46 record, may not be buyers at the trade deadline due to the decreased likelihood that they'll be a playoff team this season.
