Highlights of the 2016 Braves Season
The 2016 Atlanta Braves had quite the up-and-down season. We saw our team start 7-24, a firing of our manager, a star hit for the cycle, young pitchers show great promise on the mound and our ace pitcher throw a one-hit shutout (many more obviously).
The first five months of the season were painful to watch, but the last month was very encouraging. Through all the down moments, it was all-in-all a fun season.
We see so many plays in a year, how can you remember them all? Well, you probably can’t. Luckily, now-a-days we have the internet that stores all that stuff and we can easily the find information we need.
Looking back on the Atlanta Braves history, how can you forget the Andruw Jones catches or the clutch hits we saw from Chipper Jones throughout his days. If you attended many Braves games this year, you may have got a bobblehead from one of these great plays.
Now, we remember the days of 2016. Remember the great Fort Bragg game? What a wonderful night that was. What about when Jace Peterson filled the center field job and made a terrific catch right before crashing into the wall? It was his first time playing center field and then hit a walk off homer to beat the Nationals in the same game!
How can we forget the young-guns…Dansby Swanson and Rio Ruiz getting their first big league at-bats and impressing everyone. The speedster Mallex Smith gave the Braves a spark…too bad for that injury, but still he’s fun to watch.
And how can we not talk about the month of September? So many great wins over the final 30 days of the 2016 season. From beating up on playoff teams — Washington Nationals and New York Mets — to eliminating teams like the Miami Marlins and the Detroit Tigers. Nothing could be finer when you’re having a down year.
