CHICAGO (AP) Brandon Finnegan is through six hitless innings for the Cincinnati Reds against the Cubs in Chicago's home opener.
Finnegan has struggled Monday night with his control and been helped by some solid defense. Left fielder Adam Duvall raced to the gap and sprawled near the warning track to catch a drive by Jason Heyward in the first inning. In the second, Billy Hamilton made a sliding catch in shallow center against Anthony Rizzo.
The left-hander has four walks and four strikeouts and has thrown 92 pitches. Manager Bryan Price sent him out to attempt a sacrifice bunt and he reached on a fielder's choice in the top of the seventh.
