Updated Mar. 5, 2020 1:51 a.m. ET

CINCINNATI (AP) The Cincinnati Reds called up outfielder Kyle Waldrop from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, adding another option off the bench for the second game of their series against the Washington Nationals.

Waldrop was called up on May 8 but didn't get into a game. He was sent back down as the Reds continued to tweak their roster in an attempt to stabilize the bullpen, which is the worst in the majors. Waldrop appeared in one game for the Reds last year. He batted .247 with four homers and 17 RBIs for Louisville this season.

Right-handed reliever Dayan Diaz was optioned to Louisville to open a spot for Waldrop. Diaz made five appearances for the Reds and gave up seven runs in four innings.
