Price throws 4 scoreless, Rays tie Orioles 4-4
David Price breezed through four scoreless innings, allowing just a hit and a walk in preparation for his opening day start as the Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles tied 4-4 on Thursday night in a spring training game that was called after 10 innings.
Price, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, will start against Baltimore on April 2. He gave up only a second-inning single to J.J. Hardy and a fourth-inning walk to Matt Wieters.
The left-hander struck out three and threw 34 of 51 pitches for strikes in an economical outing.
Desmond Jennings had four hits and Evan Longoria drove in two runs with a first-inning single and a sixth-inning home run for Tampa Bay.
Minor league pitcher Jesse Beal started for the Orioles and allowed three runs in the first.
