Police officer uses his hat to make catch on foul ball, gives souvenir to kid

A baseball glove isn't a standard piece of equipment for police officers on duty, so this cop at a Giants-Cardinals game over the weekend had to improvise.

During the ninth inning, a ball was fouled back behind home plate and directly at the officer posted up against a wall. Showing some quick thinking, the policeman removed his hat and used it to smoothly snag the ball. With the Giants trailing 3-0 late in the game, the crowd loved it and seemed psyched to have something to cheer for.

The souvenir wasn't detained for long though, as the officer gave it away to a young fan who approached him immediately after the catch. That's good policing right there.
