Papi's payday: Ortiz to earn $15M in 2016

Despite being nearly 40-years-old, Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz just keeps on producing.

Because of that, he will earn at least $15 million in 2016, according to MassLive.

During Sunday's game, he notched his 575th plate appearance of the season, guaranteeing him that contract next season. Should he reach 600 plate appearances, his 2016 contract gets bumped up to $16 million, which is the maximum he will receive.

Heading into the rubber game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Ortiz was slashing .272/.358/.549.
