Padres place Harang on disabled list

Published Jun. 13, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

The San Diego Padres have placed right-hander Aaron Harang on the 15-day disabled list because of a bruised right foot and reinstated outfielder Cameron Maybin.

The team also purchased right-hander Anthony Bass' contract from Double-A San Antonio before Monday night's game at Colorado. Bass will make his major debut against the Rockies.

In other moves, the Padres optioned catcher Kyle Phillips to Triple-A Tucson and designated lefty Aaron Poreda for assignment.

Harang is 7-2 this season with a 3.71 ERA. The move is retroactive to June 10.

Maybin has been sidelined since May 28 with an inflamed right knee. He's hitting .254 with five homers and 15 RBIs.

The 23-year-old Bass has a 7-3 record with a 3.41 ERA in 12 starts for Tucson and San Antonio.
