Padres feasting on left-handed pitching

The Padres have scored the most runs in the National League entering Tuesday night's game, due in no small part to the additions of right-handed hitters Matt Kemp, Justin Upton, Wil Myers, Will Middlebrooks and Derek Norris. Unsurprisingly, the team has hit left-handed pitchers very well. The team is hitting .361/.392/.500 against lefties, which Dennis Lin of U-T San Diego cites as "the best batting average, second-best on-base percentage and top slugging percentage in the majors."

Among the lefties the Padres have hit hard are Clayton Kershaw and Madison Bumgarner. The Padres got three earned runs off of Kershaw on Opening Day and on April 11 tagged Bumgarner for five earned runs in three innings.

The Padres have certainly not only hit left-handers though. The team average (.255) and slugging percentage (.416) against right-handed pitchers both rank eighth in all of baseball according to Lin.
