The Nationals have recalled right-hander Ross Ohlendorf from Triple-A Syracuse and he was scheduled to make his first Washington start in Wednesday night's game at Colorado.

To make room for Ohlendorf, the Nationals optioned right-hander Nathan Karns to Double-A Harrisburg. In a separate move, the Nationals transferred right-hander Christian Garcia to the 60-day disabled list.

Ohlendorf, 30, was signed by the Nationals as a minor league free agent over the winter. He went 4-5 with a 4.27 ERA in 13 games, 12 of them starts.

Karns was 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA in three starts for the Nationals this season.
