Miguel Cabrera passes Eric Hosmer in All-Star voting
Not everyone is on the Kansas City Royals' All-Star bandwagon.
On Monday, Major League Baseball released All-Star voting updates and perhaps one of the most deserving Royals players has fallen out of first place.
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera has surpassed Eric Hosmer, and now leads by 1.3 million votes after trailing him by about 400,000 votes a week ago.
Cabrera, a nine-time All-Star, has 9.3 million votes.
"I even voted once for Miggy yesterday," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told the media Monday, according to The Associated Press. "If he finishes one vote ahead of Hosmer, you guys better remember that."
Cabrera currently leads the American League in batting average (.350), on-base percentage (.456), slugging (.593) and OPS (1.050). He has 15 home runs, 13 doubles and a league-leading 52 RBI.
Hosmer is currently hitting .294 with a .362 on-base percentage and .460 slugging. He has eight home runs and 38 RBI.
According to the most recent ballot update, seven Royals are projected to start in this year's Midsummer Classic.
