Miami Marlins Pitcher Jose Fernandez Tragically Killed

In a heart-breaking turn of events, it was learned this morning that Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez died earlier today in a boat crash.

He was twenty-four.

The crash was off of Miami Beach, and claimed two other victims who have not been named at this time.

Consequently, today’s game between the Atlanta Braves and the Miami Marlins was cancelled due to the tragic circumstances. Fernandez was scheduled to make that start, in what would likely have been his last of the year, although there were some reports that was pushed back to tomorrow’s series against the Mets.
