Mets third baseman Wright resumes baseball activities

Mets third baseman David Wright took the first steps toward returning to the field Tuesday following an absence of more than three months.

Wright fielded ground balls at Citi Field and looked "smooth and comfortable," according to the New York Post

The Mets captain has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury on April 14. He suffered another setback in May when he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal column.

Wright had been rehabbing his back in California and received clearance last week to resume baseball activities. He was in good spirits Tuesday, joking with a senior producer for station SNY that his "uniform still fits."

A seven-time All-Star, Wright has appeared in only eight games this season and is batting .333 with a homer and two RBI.
