Mets put Travis d'Arnaud on DL with strained right shoulder

NEW YORK (AP) New York Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right rotator cuff.

D'Arnaud left Monday night's game against the Cincinnati Reds in the eighth inning after feeling discomfort while trying to throw out a base stealer. D'Arnaud said he'd never experienced this feeling and would see a doctor.

New York filled his roster spot Tuesday by selecting the contract of catcher Rene Rivera from Triple-A Las Vegas. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the Mets transferred right-hander Zack Wheeler, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, to the 60-day disabled list.
