Mets' Michael Cuddyer to have achy knee examined

Published Jul. 9, 2015 5:31 a.m. ET

Michael Cuddyer has been in and out of action for the New York Mets for the past couple weeks, and now he's headed back to the doctor to try to fix his achy left knee.

Manager Terry Collins revealed to reporters Wednesday that Cuddyer is set to have his knee examined on Thursday or Friday by the team's doctors.

The 36-year-old outfielder received a pair of injections last Wednesday that he hoped would prove the remedy to his injury, but he has continued to experience pain in his knee since then.

Collins says that even though Cuddyer's knee is acting up, he's still available to play.

"Right now he's available," Collins said. "No matter how hurt he is, he'll run hard."
