After taking a day off, New York Mets third baseman David Wright resumed his rehab assignment Thursday night at Class A Port St. Lucie.

It is the third rehab game for Wright, who will bat third and play third base. Wright was 1-for-3 while serving as the designated hitter Monday and played six innings in the field Tuesday, also going 1-for-3.

Wright has been sidelined since injuring his hamstring on April 14 in the Mets' eighth game of the season. He was diagnosed with spinal stenosis - a narrowing of the spinal column - in May and had been shut down from baseball activies until last week.

Wright will be joined in the lineup by Mets center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who is playing his first game since going on the disabled list on Aug. 2 due to a pinched nerve in his neck.
