Mets catcher Josh Thole says he has been symptom free since Friday from a concussion he sustained a week ago and hopes to resume baseball activities soon.
Thole was scheduled to see a doctor Tuesday and wanted to take the test that determines whether a player is ready to return from a concussion.
Thole spent much of his time in bed since Philadephia's Ty Wigginton hit him in the head during a play at the plate on May 7. Thole was placed on the seven-day concussion DL.
The 25-year-old thinks he's had four concussions in his brief career. He says he will take his return easy and build up to playing games. He also plans switch to the hockey goalie-style mask that offers more head protection than the traditional mask.
