When talking about the late Jose Fernandez, the Mets broadcasting team got a little choked up
Monday night was one of the more emotional nights in Major League Baseball history. For the first time since the untimely death of Jose Fernandez, the Miami Marlins took the field to take on the New York Mets. There were a lot of deserved tributes to one of the brightest young stars in the game that was taken from us way too soon, and a lot of remembering the late Marlins star.
At one point in the game, it was time for the Mets’ broadcasting team of Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling to remember the young man that stole a lot of people’s hearts, and that was one of the more emotional moments of the evening.

Both the Mets and the Marlins have done an amazing job on Monday night of honoring the memory of Fernandez. The Marlins are wearing Fernandez’s jersey for the game on Monday, and as they were circled around the mound to pay tribute, the entire Mets team came out to offer up their condolences.
Oh yeah, and then there was the moment where Dee Gordon smashed a leadoff home run in one of the more emotional sports moments that we have ever seen.
But this showing by the Mets broadcast team further proves that Fernandez really left a lasting impression on everyone involved in the game of baseball.
