Martinez will start Saturday; Garcia's rehab assignment set

Sunday's 18-inning marathon forced Cardinals manager Mike Matheny to move every starter up a day. However, that will not include Carlos Martinez, who finished out the game.

St. Louis' first-year stater will be afforded a full five days of rest before he gets back on the mound, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Meanwhile, the club is close to getting Jaime Garcia back in the rotation. He will start Thursday for Low-A Peoria in what could be his only rehab appearanc. Garcia, who has missed a month with a groin strain, will aim to throw around 50 pitches, the Post-Dispatch reported.
