Marlins slugger Stanton could be back in lineup in about 10 days

Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton is targeting a return to the lineup in about 10 days.
Stanton has been sidelined since suffering a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist on June 26. He underwent surgery two days later, but his recovery from the initial four-to-six-week diagnosis has been slow.

The power-hitting outfielder said Tuesday that his wrist has improved and estimated he is "about a week and a half" from rejoining the Marlins lineup. Stanton added that he didn't know if a minor league rehab assignment was practical given the timing of his return.
"I don't know how much time I have to do that to be honest, for their schedule and for ours," Stanton said. "Hopefully, my timing will be there and we'll go from there."
Stanton, who signed a 13-year, $325 million contract in the offseason, was having a monster year at the time of his injury, leading the majors in home runs (27) and RBIs (66).
