Marlins ace Jose Fernandez to make next start on week's rest
Jose Fernandez is back on the bump after over a year of rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, but the Miami Marlins are going to make sure that they ease him back into their rotation.
Fernandez, who made his 2015 debut on Thursday, July 2 after 14 months of rehab following his surgery, won't start until a week after the start.
The 22 year-old ace is scheduled to face the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, July 9 in the Marlins' final series before the All-Star game, which will be hosted in Cincinnati.
In his first start of the season, Fernandez lifted the Marlins to victory over the San Francisco Giants, giving up seven hits and three earned runs and striking out six in six innings, sparking the Marlins' offense by blasting a home run that was a catalyst for a rally.
