The Seattle Mariners selected the contract of catcher Guillermo Quiroz from Double-A West Tennessee on Tuesday.

With the move the Mariners now have 29 players on their active roster and 39 players on their 40-man roster.

The team called up Quiroz following the completion of West Tennessee's run in the Southern League playoffs. The move gives the team a third catching option and added roster flexibility for the final month of the season.

Adam Moore will continue to be the team's primary catching option with Quiroz and Josh Bard also available.

Quiroz split time this season between West Tennessee and Triple-A Tacoma. He's batting .286 on the season with 7 home runs and 36 RBI in 96 games played. Quiroz played in four games for the Mariners in 2009.
