Indians pitcher Danny Salazar out 3-4 weeks with forearm strain
Cleveland Indians pitcher Danny Salazar will miss the remainder of the regular season after an MRI revealed a mild strain in his flexor musculature.
The team says Salazar is out for the next three to four weeks with the forearm injury and his postseason availability is also in doubt.
Salazar will not throw for the next 10 days and will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection on Tuesday.
"So I think when it's all said and done, getting the news that we did is pretty good," Indiana manager Terry Francona said. "It's musculature as opposed to something with the ligament and the repair that was already in there."
Salazar left his start against the Minnesota Twins on Friday after pitching four innings due to tightness in his right forearm. He missed one start in June because of shoulder fatigue and went on the disabled list in August with elbow inflammation.
Salazar has a 11-6 record with a 3.87 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 25 starts this season.
Cleveland (83–60) starts Tuesday with a six-game lead in the AL Central over the Detroit Tigers with 19 regular season games remaining.
